Who we are

A national body focused on rights, policy, access, and inclusion

Guyana’s National Commission on Disability was established as a semi-autonomous Presidential Commission on December 10, 1997. Its role was more formally and legally defined under the Persons with Disabilities Act of 2010.
The Commission’s work is guided by the Constitution of Guyana, the Persons with Disabilities Act, relevant international conventions and agreements, and national development priorities.

To influence policy changes and enforcement of laws that protect the rights of persons with disabilities, and to be the major source of information on disability issues in Guyana.
